The Wynnewood Chamber of Commerce would like to thank the Wynnewood Public Library Board for allowing use of its allotted space to host the chamber's web site.  It is this kind of cooperative business relationship that makes Wynnewood an excellent place to live, work and raise a family.

In October of 1994, Mary McAlister graciously donated a 25’ X 97’ building to the City of Wynnewood to be used to house the Wynnewood Public Library.  The beautifully remodeled library includes a wide variety of books, periodicals, reference materials and computers.

It is the purpose of the Wynnewood Public Library to provide excellent service to patrons of all ages in the form of current, high-demand, high-interest materials in a variety of formats.  The library actively promotes and encourages the use of the collection and makes available up-to-date technology.

The library is operated by the City of Wynnewood, and its expenses are paid by funds appropriated to the library.  Funds are also received each year from the Oklahoma Department of Libraries to purchase books.

The library conducts a Summer Reading Program every year.  Please watch the Wynnewood Gazette for details, or call the library for additional information.

The library provides Internet access on four state-of-the art computers.  There is no charge to use the computers or to access the Internet.  Two computers have programs especially for children of all ages.

Each patron of the library has equal access to technology information ideas and related equipment, which enables the patrons to pursue lifelong learning and participate knowledgeably and productively in our society.  Information technology ensures all patrons equal opportunity to Internet information resources.  Information technology also provides access to library and Internet resources to those unable to afford the accessibility in their personal homes and businesses.

Wynnewood Public Library has a very active Friends of the Library organization.  Friends, through fund-raising efforts and private donations, provide a great amount of financial assistance.  Friends provided a major part of the funding to renovate the present library building.  This organization is dedicated to meet the special needs of the library.
